Part 2 of our Aircoolness Help and Shine 2013 coverage. Hit the jump for pics of Kombis, rusty Beetles and a few cars that aren’t VWs
Yesterday we took a look at some really clean aircooled VWs from the Aircoolness Help and Shine 2013 in Reno, NV. Today we’re going to spend time looking at a few less typical VWs from the same event and we might even sneak in a non- VW or two.
Baja bugs have always been a part of the VW culture and for good reason a large number of VW based cars have done pretty well in offroad racing. While many street driven Bajas tend to look like something from Mad Max, this particular example was mind blowing. It looks like a full on SCORE Class 5 race car with nice paint and a license plate!
At the other end of the spectrum is this fearsome looking Ghia. I have no idea how quick it is but NHRA mandates chutes on cars that can do 150+ in the quarter mile so I’ll let you draw your own conclusions.
This nice looking Austin Healey snuck into the show. I’m not much for British cars but the sidepipes, hood louvers, and fender flares make this one of the nicest looking British cars this side of and E-type Jag.
While it might not be a VW somehow this BMW Isetta looks right at home at the Aircoolness Help and Shine. It is aircooled and with a little bit of clever maneuvering it might just have fit inside one of the VW Buses that was in attendance.
Probably one of the strangest cars at the event, this Beetle had quite a lot of tire and not a lot of engine. It looks kind of ridiculous but at the same time it really makes you want to check it out. I have no doubt that it’s a pretty fun car to take on cruise nights.
That wraps up our coverage of the 2013 Aircoolness Help and Shine. Thanks again to the Old Slamers of Reno for putting on such a great event and raising money for a very good cause: The Norther Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation.
I’ll leave you with a gallery of images from the event and if you missed part one of our coverage check it out here:
