We don’t really like to promote crash videos, but the technical Sachsenring Circuit caught out some of the best today during practice for the weekend’s MotoGP race. Hit the jump for the video and a little commentary on why motorcycle races are the most fearless racers in motorsport.
As extreme as a four wheeled motorsport might be none of them can compare to motorcycle racing. Just imagine if Lewis Hamilton flew off the track and out of the car every time he locked up the front brakes. What if the Ferrari F138 pitched the driver out and tumbled down the track everytime Felipe Massa spun the car?
That is exactly the kind of thing motorcycle racers deal with every weekend.
The video we previously embedded was taken down by Dorna Sports due to copyright violation. The link below will take you to the official MotoGP page on YouTube. Apparently, Dorna Sports doesn’t understand how the internet works as they do not allow their videos to be embedded.
It’s interesting to notice that the MotoGP crashes all started as lowsides, essentially losing traction on the front wheel.
All of the riders in this video are fit to race after the crashes, aside from Lorenzo who aggravated the collarbone that he broke two weeks ago at Assen. It sounds like the defending champion will sit the next two races and give himself a chance to heal, before returning to competition at the Indianapolis MotoGP race.
We’ll have our usual MotoGP recap on Monday.
