A pair of Chevy Rat Rods

With trucks and Rat Rods being the biggest trends running when you combine the two you have a sure fire hit. So today we check out a pair of sweet rat rod Chevy trucks from different eras. Both a long way from their working days and now living the good life on the show circuit.

The 1950s styling of the truck above is timeless. It reminds us of an era when trucks were for work and not every soccer Dad had one. You know this truck did not sit in a garage all day, putter to the office in traffic, and then take the kids out for dinner at night. No this truck probably saw duty on a farm, or maybe by a carpenter. It was probably muddy most of the time, never saw a garage, and put in more in one days work then most modern trucks do in their life time. You don’t get that perfect patina in suburbs. You get it by working. so let’s take a look at this and another classic truck who has been aged to perfection.

I was a bit surprised when I peaked inside the cabin. It has some nice finished touches like the wheel and gauge cluster. Maybe the best of both worlds here, aged on the outside but refurbished inside.

Stepping back we see that this truck was two toned paint. Creme and green? Both have aged well. I love the bed and a lot of these tail gates are long gone now so it’s nice to see it in tact.

If we step forward in time a couple decades we see what another era of work truck looks like all ratted out. These trucks are getting more and more popular as the trucks from the 1950s are getting gobbled up by collectors and enthusiasts.

So there’s a quick look at some Chevy rat rod trucks. No doubt we will see plenty more of this type of hot rod in the future as the rat trend heats up and the truck trend continues going strong. These type of builds really allow the builder to get creative. Stop lights for tail lights, pin stripes on rust, road signs for door interiors and so on. I always enjoy seeing them out and about. They are proof that it’s not about how deep your bank account is, but how deep your creativity is.
