Porsche Faster Farther – Film Friday

Cars as art, a theme that we’ve seen repeated through out history, so much so that a number of art museums have had exhibits featuring cars.  You can now add Porsche and the North Carolina Museum of Art to that list of museums and manufactures that view cars as art.

The North Carolina Museum of Art is the latest museum to feature an amazing automotive exhibition of historic Porsches.   If you’re anywhere in the vicinity of Raleigh, NC this coming October you really should check out the exhibit.  The video below is just one of the films that they have created to showcase the exhibit.

Spotted: T buckets!

It’s been a while since we did a spotted post. Designed to be short and sweet and cars that we just find along the road on our travels. This group of T buckets certainly fit the bill. As I was heading between car shows last weekend I had to cross the Illinois River at Kampsville. So while waiting for the ferry to come I looked to the right and there they were a whole slug of T buckets.

Save the Clark 54 Drive In

I try not to get very personal on this site as I like to keep it strictly cars. However drive ins are very car releated and if you haven’t gotten to cruise to a drive in and catch a film with your friends or that special girl or guy in your life you are really missing out. We fortunately have one such drive in here near the Infinite Garage World head quarters in Pike County, Illinois. It’s a local treasure and every weekend hundreds of people cruise out on Highway 54 to the Clark 54 drive in to watch a movie and gather with friends and family.

Soon that rare piece of Americana may be gone. The movie industry is going all digital and small town drive ins like the one here just can’t afford the nearly half a million dollars to upgrade. This means that without some serious help this icon of America may go by the wayside. The good news is Honda is sponsoring Project Drive In. Through Project Drive in one lucky drive in will be able to win a digital projector which will keep the gates open and the people happy. To some of you who live in the city this probably sounds a bit weird but to us here in rural America we have very few destinations where a family can go for good cheap entertainment and the drive in is one. Two movies for five bucks! It’s almost hard to believe with movie ticket prices in the city at a normal theater going for $13, $15, or even $20. So I’m asking you help save the Clark 54 drive in. All you have to do is visit the Project Drive In site and vote for the Clark 54 drive in. You can vote once a day and every vote helps!

Bonneville 2013 – Part 3

Bonneville 2013Somehow we still have more Bonneville 2013 coverage.  It’s no surprise really even after spending two days walking around on the salt I’m sure there are plenty of cars and photo opportunities that I missed.  We’ve got more pictures and some talk about cars after the jump.
