We love Dodge Chargers here on IG so it is not a surprise to feature one on film Friday, but Miami Vice, well I’m not a fan. Granted I was bout 6 when it was on TV but all I remember is the Ferrari 308 and some sweet leisure suits that the hipsters of the world would die to have in their wardrobe today. So there isn’t much to like. However that did not stop Jordan Michael Lockhart from making a really awesome “ode to Miami Vice” featuring a completely bitchin classic Dodge Charger. The sights the sounds, Phil Collins, it’s all here. Phil Collins? You’ll just have to watch the video to find out. No matter your take on Phil Collins or Miami Vice this is one awesome short film.

2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28
The 2014 Chevy Camaro Z/28 looks to take the current Camaro and make it lighter, more powerful, tighter, and meaner. Without getting my hands on one just yet I can bet they’ve succeeded. The idea behind the 2014 Z/28 is to go racing. It is not designed for any specific series but it is meant for the customer can pick it up and head to the track. To do this the Camaro had to get lighter, let’s be honest it’s a bit of a pig and Chevy came through big time dropping the weight 300lbs over the 2013 Camaro. That is significant. This was achieved by taking out sound deadening, using thinner glass, and making AC an option.
As you can tell from the picture the car has gotten a refresh. I think it’s not bad. Under the hood is a bit of a refresh too. The Z/28 will now be powered by the 500hp LS7. You’ll get six piston calipers up front and carbon ceramic brakes to hell stop all those light weight ponies. All in all I think it’s a great package. A great package that we don’t know the price of just yet. I can’t help but think this car may cost deep into Corvette territory, of course we don’t know what the new Vette will cost either so this is all a bit of speculation. What we do know is the changes to the Camaro Z/28 are going to make it a very capable track day car. You can hit the jump for the full press release with all the stats, details, and typical hoopla you’d expect from a major release.

2014 Cadillac CTS
The news broke this week about the all new 2014 Cadillac CTS. You may have seen it by now, we were not quick to jump on this because quite frankly it’s kind of ugly. Ok, looks are subjective, but what I see here is a bit of Mercedes E-class styling in the front end with some really boring lines elsewhere. The current CTS was edgy, sporting, and a bit out there. I like it when car designers take chances with the styling. The car designers of the new CTS did not take chances. This I believe is a step backwards. This is something my Grandma would drive.
Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest let us discuss the good about the new CTS. First off Cadillac says it’s lighter, lower, and leaner. It may be, but it looks huge. The lighter comes from the use of light weight materials like aluminium in the door structures. This is a good things, cars need to get lighter. The “Vsport” model will also feature GM’s new twin turbo V6 with an eight speed automatic transmission. The longer wheel base, and lower stance are said to help with the 50/50 weight distribution and the car over all is two hundred pounds lighter then the out going CTS. That is pretty good. The CTS will also feature played out LEDs on the front head lamps. That’s probably not fair of me to say, but I don’t see them as a selling point although clearly GM does as they mention it pretty heavily in the press release which I’ve included below.

Sunday Commentary: Easter Sunday
Sunday Commentary week in review
by Jason
If ever there were a holiday that was a metaphor for the car world it would be Easter. Easter is all about the gathering of family and friends to celebrate the Resurrection. Friday night I attended a bit of an Easter gathering myself. I gathered with friends to celebrate old muscle cars, and hot rods many of which had been resurrected. Think about it is there any place that is more Easter like then a car show? People gathering, telling the stories of the life, death, and resurrection of something that is often times sacred to them. Sounds like Easter to me and before I head out to a big family get together to celebrate Easter I thought I’d try and knock out the Sunday commentary where if you do not know we take a look back at the week that was, look forward to next week and just try and celebrate all that is the car.
If you are wondering what those two beauties above are they are a Chevy 3100 pick up truck and a Chevy Nomad that were at the cruise in Friday. Both are pretty awesome. You can hit the jump for the rest of the Sunday Commentary.
