As March comes to it’s final week supposedly Spring is here. If you live in the Midwest you know you couldn’t tell from the huge snow storm that has decided to pay us a visit today. So on what was supposed to be an action packed weekend with numerous car events about we find ourselves couped up in the garage watching the snow fall. I am told Spring will come eventually.

2014 Chevrolet Camaro Teaser

So we are getting a “new” Camaro next year. Basically 2014 will be the year of the new car. We do not know a whole lot about the new Camaro except we have one picture.
2014 Camaro grill
Like I said it’s not much. So what do we see here? Well clearly a new grill that is a bit simpler and cleaner. There is also a new bit of chrome around the top there. So that’s all we know. Don’t expect this to be a total redesign though but more of a refresh. With Chevy kicking Ford’s tail in muscle car sales right now Chevy does not have much of an incentive to change the whole works. As always we’ll keep you updated.

World Of Wheels: black and white

A pair of roadsters really caught my eye at the World of Wheels shows. Both very different but both very similar too. One made for cruising, and one made for racing. Their colors black and white, as opposite as night and day, but yet something very familiar.

Chevy Roadster

First up is the Chevy Roadster. I’m used to seeing Ford Roadsters with Chevy engines, but a Chevy Roadster with a Ford Engine? That’s something new to me. This one is big block powered and it looks mean as hell.

Chevy explains the C7 Corvettes tail lights

It is kind of sad that in 2013 because of the internet and trolls that Chevy thinks they have to explain their design on the 2014 Corvette. It’s different, some people like it, some people hate it, quite frankly that’s the way it should be. When you design an all new car, particularly your halo car it should have an edgy design that is polarizing. If GM had taken the safe route and just made it like the old ones it would have been a total failure. I’ve heard A LOT of criticism about the car, in fact I’ve heard it all and my response to it will be unpopular but I’m going for it.

What everyone who hates the new Corvette has to realize is it is not 1967. Retro styling HAS TO GO. If you want an car that looks like an old car, go buy an old car. I’m sick of new cars trying to look old and what Chevy has done here is broken out of that mold completely. They have gone ultra modern, dare I say even futuristic. So the 2014 Corvette has square tail lights, why? Because from a design standpoint it makes sense. The rest of the car is very angular and to put round tail lights on that design would have looked dumb. So go ahead and say it looks like a Camaro, you’re wrong, but you can say it because if you believe that you aren’t paying attention. No one is going to confuse the rear of the Vette for the rear of a Camaro.

So what we have below is a video of GM design director Tom Peters explaining the design of the rear tail lights of the Corvette. It’s stupid that he has to, but he is. So thanks to Autoweek we have video of that. Hit the jump and check it out.
