Toyota GT86 GT4 Race car

The Toyota GT86 is the sister car in Japan to the Subaru BRZ. The hugely popular BRZ/GT86/FRS platform was made for fun driving and racing. You might remember our recent article on the Subaru BRZ RA which is a track ready version of the entry level sports car. Now Toyota has shown their full on race car version of the GT86 which they call the GT86 GT4.

The car is powered by a direct injection 2.0 cylinder turbo engine that Toyota says in race trim will make between 360hp and 400hp. That’s a nice jump over the stock cars 200hp. Look for the GT86 GT4 at the Avon Tyres British GT championships.

Lamborghini Sesto Elemento specs

The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento is a rare, low production, special edition Lamborghini reserved for the friendliest of the friends of Lamborghini. With it’s extensive use of carbon fiber, exotic stlying, and super low curb weight of 2,200lbs it is in rare territory indeed. Sesto Elemento means “sixth element” which on the periodic table is carbon. So the car is a tribute to carbon fiber, and what a tribute it is.

Tech Tuesday: Torsion Bars

Tech Tuesday has become quite popular here on Infinite-Garage so we’ll keep hammering away at it. Today we rejoin Caterham F1 with a topic on torsion bars. The great thing about this is that it isn’t specific to F1 cars and in fact is quite useful knowledge in all forms of racing.

So what is a torsion bar? Simply it’s a bar that is permanently mounted to the frame or other non movable part of the chassis. That bar has a key mounted to the other end of the bar which is mounted to the suspension. As the suspension travels the bar is twisted. (torsion)

Torsion bars are useful in that ride height is easily adjusted, but the disadvantage is the lack of a progressive spring rate. Of course different bars and be swapped in with different rates.

Times are hard. Moneys tight. Today I’m going to show you how to operate your car for maximum gas mileage. You can own the most fuel efficient car on the planet, but if you’re not up to the task of drivng it well, you won’t be gaining anything. Like the Prius that just flew past you at 85.
