Challenger and Barracuda to coexist? 6.2L Supercharged Cuda

Well we will chalk this post up to rumors but it’s worth throwing out there as we all know there is a 6.2L Supercharged hemi coming from Dodge in 2014 as a 2015 model year car. Now according to Automotive News the Challenger and Cuda will coexists together and in fact be the same car basically. What we’ve said all along is the Challenger is going to get smaller in the next redesign. It has to, it’s heavy, big, and clumsy. It does not compete performance wise with it’s big rivals, ie the Camaro and Mustang and that has to change if it is going to survive. Oh yes I’m sure I’ll hear plenty from Challenger owners about how you just dusted some Mustang at the lights with your 392, but that is anecdotal. Fact is, in every performance test ever done the Challenger is slower then it’s comparatively priced rivals.

Dodge Challenger

What we know:

-Challenger gets a refresh for 2013/2014 with launch control
-total redesign for 2015 model year, to debut early 2014
-2015 Dodge Challenger will be smaller
-Dodge will get a V6 and V8 (think RT) version
-SRT will get the 6.2L supercharged Hemi and this will be called the Cuda
-Cuda will be same basic platform as Challenger with the supercharged engine

You can hit the jump for some wallpapers of the current 392 Challenger.

Tech Tuesday: Your Car’s Intake System Part 1:

The intake system on a car is often one of the most restrictive parts of the system, yet one of the most over-looked. The intake itself is usually replaced but the rest of the system goes untouched. The result is usually a minimal or no gain in horsepower and money wasted. What I hope to do here with this discussion is to just touch on other areas where attention needs to be paid in order to insure you are getting the most out of your engine.

Rally Ready Smart for Two with video!

Why not? If you can cruise through the suburbs with your giant lifted SUV or pick up truck why can’t some crazy bastards make a Smart for Two for rally racing? That’s right, these guys decided to take a Smart car, jack it up, stick some big knobbys on there and rally the damn thing. Now they call it the Dakar Smart but they aren’t actually going to Dakar which starts in just a few days. Either way it’s kind of cool.

Sunday Commentery: The Big Awards

As we leave the Christmas season behind and the new year approaches we are taking stock here at Infinite Garage in what has worked for us in the past and what has not. We’ve got some big plans for the new year and it’s going to be great. What has developed to be the staple of our little corner of the car world and what we are going to expand on in the coming year is our original content. Sure new car news and reviews are cool and we of course love testing the new cars, but what we love more is getting out to shows, races, and other events where our readers, and future readers are showing off their projects. To me the heart of the car world is the hot rodder and tuner. That is where my interest lies. I love seeing a perfectly restored classic, or a modified muscle car, hot rod or import. That’s why to me today’s awards are the most important and why they are done last. Because they are the best.

IG Awards

So hit the jump to see the best of the best from the year that was in Infinite Garage.
