2013 BMW M3 Frozen Edition

The BMW M3 has long been heralded as the mother of all driver’s cars; and with good reason, they are brilliant. The new M3 got some knocks from the purists for having a V8 engine, weighing too much, and being overloaded with gadgets. Under all of that though, is one great drive.

So the BMW M3 Frozen Edition at least sounds interesting. So what is it? Well it starts with the competition package which adds more sportiness to the M3. You’ll get your choice of three colors, one obviously being an icy blue looking thing pictured above, and matte black 19 inch wheels. The suspension gets some goodies in the form of electronic damper control, a slight lowering, a more aggressively tuned ECU and traction systems and oh yeah a six speed manual. No stupid DSG gear box here. Of course you will get your traditional smattering of carbon fiber and other goodies. All of this will run you about $76,000 and some change before options. I think it sounds interesting considering most special editions are nothing more then some badging and maybe an aero kit.

If you want to see the full press release from BMW hit the jump for all the details.

Ford Offering Reproduction 40s Coupe Bodies

Reproduction bodies are getting quite popular these days now that the big three are in on the act. Ford has decided to reproduce the iconic 1940s coupe styling with modern steel and assembly techniques. This hopefully means a stronger body that is more rust resistant. This will of course come at a price, with the body starting at $11,900. Ford is also planing a whole host of accessories and trim to go with the body. More details should emerge this week at SEMA, so if anything exciting comes about we’ll let you know. You can hit the jump for the full press release.

Lingenfelter’s Retrokit Camaro

Lingenfelter, who are well known for their high horsepower Corvettes have decided to tackle a retro style Camaro. The kit takes a new Camaro and bolts on body pieces to make it resemble a 1969 model. I hate to tell them the retro thing is kind of over. The PT Cruiser is dead, the new Beetle has moved on, the Mustang gets a complete redesign for 2014 etc. It’s just over and I think this kit puts the final nail in the coffin. If you want a 1969 Camaro, go buy one. They are out there, and very nice examples can be had much cheaper than a new Camaro. In fact, decent examples can be had for about the same price as Lingenfelter’s Retrokit, which will run you nearly 7k before installation.

If this Retrokit is your sort of thing, and I hope it isn’t, you’ll get a front fascia, side skirts, wheels, lower spoiler, head light covers, hardware, and wiring. I’ve put the press release fromLingenfelter after the jump if you want more info.
