John McGuinees laps Le Mans in his CBR1000RR at night

Le Mans is a pretty challenging track any time, but throw in some night, and do it on a motorcycle and the level of insanity goes up pretty fast. Of course bikes run on the Bugatti track and not the full 24 hour race circuit but that does not make this video less cool.

Now I know some of you are thinking what does bike racing have to do with Infinite-Garage.com but let’s be honest bikes are pretty cool too and we’ve already done a bike article in the past that turned out pretty awesome so I doubt you guys will mind if we mix in a few more articles here and there.

You’ll have to hit the jump for the video so click on threw and check it out.

A 1933 Willys hot rod you gotta see to believe

Dan Garner of Godfrey, Illinois sure knows how to build a hot rod and if you don’t believe me I have the pictures to prove it. Dan took a 1933 Willys widened it by five inches and lengthened it by 8. Top all that off with a ton of extra custom touches and you have the makings of a real show stopper. This car has been getting attention all over from being the featured vehicle at Indy this year, to winning the Super Chevy Show and it’s class at Gateway and finally landing a feature here on Infinite-Garage.com. Ok, so that last one might not quite stand up to the other accomplishments…yet. Dan’s car is worthy of all the praise it gets, there is not a flaw any where to be found and every part is done to perfection. We will feature anything this awesome on IG but there is a special place for hot rods that are built and not bought. That’s why this one wins my best in show for the 2012 White Hall Drag O Way Reunion.

Plenty more on this amazing ride after the jump.

The Chevy Volt is not going away, and GM is not losing $49,000 on each one

Quick Facts from Infinite Garage about the Reuters article.
-Reuters says that it costs GM $89,000 to build each Volt
-Reuters then says later in the article that it actually only costs 20-32k to make each Volt. The $89,000 figure includes all research and development costs of the Volt
-Reuters incorrectly says the Volt plant is closing due to weak sales. This is a lie, the Volt plant is closing for retooling because of the 2014 Impala, and GM states it has no intention of stopping Volt production, which is going quite well.

Full article from Infinite Garage about the actual cost of the Volt and the lies of the Reuters article.

The media in this country sucks. It’s just a fact. It’s a small reason why I started IG because you can not get truth any more and the media only focuses on sensationalism and politically motivated content.

For the last week I’ve sat and listened to a certain radio and TV station blast GM, the govt, and unions over the Chevy Volt over what amounts to some really bad math and all out lies. I just can not let these lies about the Volt go on though.

First things first let’s address the elephant in the room. GM is not losing $49,000 on each Volt. What is going on here is some really fuzzy math. Saying GM is losing $49,000 on each Volt is like saying if you bought a new $30,000 car last week and went to the grocery store twice since then each trip to the store cost you $15,000 dollars. That would be really fuzzy math.
Plenty more on this topic after the jump.

2013 Viper starting under 100k…..barely

Just the other day we told you that the Dodge brand was going to focus on “affordable performance.” I’m not sure a $100,000 dollar car is exactly affordable but I’m a bit surprised at the sub $100,000 dollar Viper. I fully expected the new Viper to be in ZR1 territory which is more like $115,000.

SRT in fact says the new Viper will have a base price of just $99,395 which is under $100,000 barely. Of course that is before you add options and other goodies and if you want the GTS model you will have to shell out more to the tune of $122,000. So the new Viper is hardly bargain basement performance, but it really never was or at least hasn’t been for over 15 years. Either way it’s a pretty sweet car and a heck of a lot less then it’s Italian rivals.
