The awesome 496 Rat truck

There are some vehicles that pictures just don’t do justice. Especially when I’m the one taking the pictures. This truck is one of them. When you take an old Chevy, lower it, make every panel perfect, shoot some flat black over it and do tons of custom touches the result is amazing. It’s hard to do flat black right especially on an old car because ever stretch, warp, dent, and imperfection will show and on the 496 Rat there isn’t a single one visible.

The big shiny grill on the flat paint looks awesome.

Toyota FT 86 (Scion FRS) bodykit and wing kit

Toyota released images of the body kit for it’s very popular FT-86 or as we know it here the Scion FRS. Toyota says the aero package increases downforce while keeping the same coefficient of drag. It’s not clear we will actually get the aero package here in the US but chances are we will. What you get is a front fascia with canards and air inlets, side skirts to help evacuate the air from the front wheel wells, and a rear bumper to reduce drag. Oh yeah and a GIANT WING.

The Must-See LeMay Auto Museum

Earlier this year in Tacoma, Washington the LeMay Museum opened. They call themselves “America’s auto museum,” which is a tall billing. But after seeing this video I think they are up to the task. It turns out they have a huge selection of cars that cover all the bases in American car history, and rotating exhibits to keep things fresh.

Unfortunately, because Vimeo’s videos slow the site to a crawl when loading I have to use a link to the video, so be sure to click and watch a pretty cool video about the museum.

Details on the New Miata MX5 Roadster

The Miata is the weapon of choice for auto-crossers, budget minded sports car enthusiasts, and those who enjoy a pure driving experience. Even through the tough car times the Miata was a true sports car outlet for the enthusiast, and now we learn of the new version. It will basically be like the old Miata but with some cosmetic upgrades and new color choices.

For those more concerned about performance, care has been taken to bump throttle response and provide better brake feel. Mazda says these changes will result in a more rewarding driving experience all while following their philosophy of keeping the car light and nimble.
