Drag Racing legend Bill “Grumpy” Jenkins passes away.

This evening we have to bring you a bit of sad news. Drag racing legend Bill “Grumpy” Jenkins has passed. Jenkins who is in several racing Hall of Fames and on the NHRAs list of best drivers of all time. It is thought that he is responsible for building and tuning over 30 record holding cars and is famous for taking advantage of an NHRA rule that allowed small blocks to run a lighter weight. This allowed him to dominate the big blocks of the era. Racing has lost a true legend. “The Grump” was 82.

The drop top of the future, BMW i8

The i8 has had the news room at I-G divided for a while. It’s a love hate thing which is often the case with futuristic concept cars. What we do love is the 0-62 time of 5 seconds, and the ability to select which drive train wheels do the work. That’s certainly unique. The drop top i8 is slightly different then the coupe version in that it’s got a smaller wheel base and uniquely opening doors.

The stat sheet on the i8 reads.

31 Koupe

Every month there is five Friday’s there is a cruise in at the small Midwestern town of White Hall, Illinois put on by the guys from the White Hall Drag-o-way group. For a few hours after work family, friends, food, and some seriously awesome cars all meet up for a good time. We will have full coverage of the event as the week goes along, but for today I wanted to post some pictures of this fantastic 31 Coupe (named 31 Koupe) that greeted me as I pulled into the lot. I’ve always thought that if my love for muscle cars waned or my bank account grew I’d do a hot rod and I can imagine it would end up something like this.

Pictures galore of this beauty after the jump, so continue reading for some awesomeness and be sure to check back in a few days for the rest of the amazing cars from the Fifth Friday Cruise in.
