White Hall Drag O Way cruise in Pt 1. The cars

As I alluded too this weekend I was out at a cruise in taking some photos. The White Hall Drag O Way crew gets together every month their is a fifth Friday to hang out, have fun, and show off their awesome rides. There was a nice turn out for this months event and I took a ton of pictures so this is likely to be a two part ordeal. Plus I already posted the 31 Koupe and I have atleast one more full feature to do from this event. Yep it was an active show. Before I get to the pictures I want to thank the guys and gals of the White Hall Drag O Way group for allowing some young guy come in and take a million pictures and ask hundreds of stupid questions.

First up a magnificent late generation C1 Vette. This car gets my best of show award because of it’s truly immaculate paint and chrome work. This car was nearly perfect. I’ll post up more of this one later in the weak.

Hit the jump for tons more coverage and check back later in the week for Pt 2 and possibly Pt 3.

The News!

It’s been a while since we did the news here and it’s been a while since there was some actual news to report. Today however there are a few things you should know.

Tomorrow we see the new Viper. Oh yes, we will cover that. There are some blurry renders and “photos” out there now but tomorrow all will be revealed at the New York Auto Show. Hopefully we know the details too like engine, power, and cost.

The 2013 Altima drops tomorrow at NY as well. The Altima is pretty damn boring, but noteworthy because it’s going to get 38mpgs and only cost 22k. Big three take note, that’s how you sell boring cars.

From BMW the 2013 X1 will start at 31k and the 1 series M which was Infinite-Garage.com winner of cool car stupid name award last year is sold out! If you wanted one, better luck next year.

Flying cars are finally here! A Dutch company and a company from the US plan to debut their flying cars this week. Remember don’t text and fly!

Chevy has resumed production of the ZL1. If you are on that list, we are jealous.

That’s all that’s news for now.

Big nitrous explosion

I’m not stranger to the dark art of nitrous. Two things that don’t mix with nitrous, inexperience, and idiots. I suspect we are seeing a bit of both here. Note the genius that sticks his face in the scoop to blow out the fire. It’s hard to tell what caused this, it could have been as innocent as a stuck solenoid, or as stupid as an over zealous driver hitting the wrong button. Either way once you’ve had some nitrous back fire YOU DO NOT TRY AND RESTART YOUR CAR!!

Steve Saleen back at the helm of Saleen

As I’m sure most of you are aware back in 2007 Steve Saleen sold Saleen. He then went on to found SMS super cars which made things like the Boss 302 Mustang, 570 Challenger, and 620 Camaro. Sadly after the sale the new owners of Saleen. MJ Acquisitions (sounds like guys you want to hand with doesn’t it?) turned out to be a bunch of doucehbags. Big surprise right? They wouldn’t honor warranties on cars sold before they bought the business. Steven Saleen not being a dick decided to pick those warranties up. After getting tired of watching a the tools at MJ Acquisitions ruin his good name he decided to sue them and get it back. Turns out he won, and now Saleen is back where he should be, at Saleen.

So all of this means that the SMS cars will now be sold under the Saleen banner and if you own a Saleen car you can get it fixed up by Saleen again. It’s a win win for everyone because Saleen (Steve, not the MJ Acquisition tools) make some seriously cool cars. If you bought a car from SMS good news, Saleen will hook you up with some Saleen badges so you can be the envy of all of us. All is right with the car world again. Hit the jump for the full press release.
