I’d love to have the budget the fellas over at Motor Trend have. We’d do all sorts of cool videos and project cars too. However back here in reality we just have to admire and enjoy what they can do. In case you haven’t been following Roadkill basically they find a junker, make it slightly less of a junker and then put it through some challenges. Sometimes it’s stupid, sometimes it’s fun and entertaining. They decided to round up all the projects they have left and have a big shootout.

Fortunately they had the cameras rolling so we get to watch all the fun. Now I’ll admit it’s a bit longer then the typical video I’d post running a full 44 minutes, but if you’ve got the time check it out. It’s certainly better then America’s got an x factor, or Talent Idol.

Nascar Sprint Cup Series Daytona 500 results
The big race has come and gone and while the #3 car may have started off the race on top it was an Earnhardt that would finish there. When asked how it felt Earnhardt said “man this feels incredible.” Standing on top of the work if but for only one week Dale Earnhardt Jr. ride the number 88 car to victory at Daytona for the first time in 10 years.

Loads of photos, a table of the results, and a recap after the jump.

Slow Motion Racing
Everything is cool when slowed down. So if you take something that is already cool and slow it down well it’s just on a whole new level. That’s the idea behind the whole racing in slow motion series on youtube. I always enjoy it when a new installment comes out. The latest video is a full 16 minutes of slow motion awesomeness.

From Top Fuel, to F1, DTM, and just about every other series this video has it all. All you have to do to make your Friday just a little bit better is hit the jump and enjoy.

Chevy SS Catches Fire at Daytona
The Chevy SS is one hot ride. So hot in fact that it sometimes catches fire. Ok, this is the only one we have heard of catching fire so that’s not a fair statement to make. In fact I think the Chevy SS is pretty damn cool. What would cause a fire on the new SS? Well it’s probably nothing to do with the production car but more so the added safety equipment that is on the pace car for the Daytona 500. There could have been a short in the wire or something like that. We may never know for sure but if you’ve got a new SS ordered I wouldn’t worry about anything besides the cost to replace the rear tires that you are going to shred off doing big burnouts.

We’ve got some video after the jump of the car shooting some flames.

Sunday Commentary: the week in review
Sunday Commentary week in review
by Jason
Another week of winter in the books and finally we got a taste of spring. I even took some time to detail the IG company car. Although it’s already dirty again thanks to snow melt and sloppy roads. Still it was great to get outside. We had a busy week here at IG too. I woke up to see that Reno has converted the back end to a newer version of the software we use. This means all the tools are in place for the big site update coming soon. We’ve settle on a design and now we just have to make it happen. You are going to love it. The design is clean, easy to read, mobile friendly, and puts a load of information in front of your eyes.

In other news my calender is filling up with car events to attend when the weather gets warmer. Sadly it looks like most of the events will not kick off until late April this year. That’s the way it goes in the Midwest though. However the good news is I have already found a few new events to go to so hopefully that means cars we’ve never seen before, new friends, and lots more photos and maybe some video for you to see.
