The Volvo Estate concept is probably not what we’d normally cover here but I think it’s cool. It’s very styled and oh yeah it’s a wagon. Volvo has been making waves as of late with the SC90 as well as their other offerings. They certainly know how to get their attention with concepts.

The interior of the Volvo Estate concept is over the top crazy. The kind of over the top crazy that is cool. Like a lot of auto makers Volvo is moving to a touch screen interface. I don’t if that’s a good thing. In a lot of places, like here in Illinois, laws are being enacted to stop distracted driving. I gotta think a big ole computer screen is going to take your eyes off the road a lot more then a typical radio knob. However touch screens are the future. Not that my opinion matters, but if it did I’d tell Volvo I like the Estate Concept.

Robbie Maddison – Film Friday
We don’t do a lot of motorcycle coverage here at Infinite Garage but this latest video from Robbie Maddison is simply too good to pass up, so sit back and watch ten minutes of controlled insanity.

Dodge sells the daylights out of the Challenger Shaker
No surprise here but Dodge dealers have ordered all of the 2014 production run of the Dodge Challenger Shaker. With it’s functional Shaker hood, specially designed intake, and exposed element it was bound to be a very popular upgrade. It turns out all 2000 are at least ordered by the dealers.

Now the question is how fast will those Shaker Dodge Challengers fly off the showrooms when they arrive later this year?

Nothing but hot rods
Hot Rods have been around in some form since the 1930s when the Southern California Timing Association began running out on the salt flats. From then on the quest for speed was on. Some of it’s roots can even be traced back to prohibition and of course moonshine running when the goal was not timing records but losing the law. While it is generally accepted that the 1930s saw the birth of hot rodding the trend really hit the ground running after World War II. Soldiers and sailors came home from the war and wanted to put their new found mechanical skills to work seeking the thrills an average life could not get them.

Of course no car was as popular as a Ford. First T-buckets, then Model A’s and Bs. Probably none of those more popular than the 32 Ford. One of the most replicated bodies of all time the originals of course are all steel, but no reproductions are made of everything from steel, to fiberglass, and even high tech composites like carbon fiber. Of course there are other varieties of hot rod as well and today I intend to look at many. It’s the middle of winter and I want to see some hot rods. Let’s hit the jump and celebrate that uniquely American piece of bad ass known as the hot rod.

Sunday Commentary: oh look it snowed again
Sunday Commentary week in review
by Jason
March is here but you could hardly tell it sitting at IG HQ. Luckily the snow wasn’t nearly as bad as it was supposed to be, but another day of shoveling is not exactly how I pictures my first Sunday of March going. Still it means one day closer to car show season and that’s alright by me.
As is the case with the winter this week on IG featured a lot of industry news and new car stuff. I am glad you guys like that sort of thing, or at least the visitor numbers suggest you do because it’s really not what I love doing. It just fills the time between car shows. However there were some fun stories this week and some good video and while we may have taken a day off in the middle there ultimately we still had a good week. I could rant on more about the snow but I’m sure no one wants to hear that so let’s get on with the week in review.
