Sunday Commentary: Slow week

If you have been tuning in all week you know things were a bit slow around here. It is the reality of late winter. I’ve exhausted most of my photos from last year and there is nothing new going on for a little while yet. Trust me no one wants to be busy editing photos and writing articles more than me but that’s the breaks of winter. The good news is my show schedule is filling up quite nicely.

Nova-SS-badge

I did manage to churn out an article or two this week. One of them I am even told was quite funny. I do have a few more things lined up for next week so hopefully it gets a little more active on the posting front. In the mean time let’s do the review.

Photos from the Geneva Motorshow: excess is best.

All the automakers big and small turn out for Geneva which means you will find anything from super cars to gas sipping micro cars. I can not say I have too many micro car photos but if it is a sports or super car we have got you covered. The big European marquees really brought the big guns out for this one. There is a lot of pretty sheet metal and composites on the show room floor.

Zenyo-ST1

Above is two Zenvo ST1’s and two lovely ladies. The Dutch car maker sure knows how to wow it’s customers with pretty girls. Rumor has it if you buy an ST1 you get a $50,000 watch with it as well. Of course Zenvo has run into a bit of bad publicity when it’s test car caught fire on the Top Gear Test Track. Let’s hope those pretty girls weren’t any where near the carnage.

Race Cars at the Geneva Motorshow

The Geneva motorshow not only has a bunch of cool new cars but they also have some really cool race cars including many historical cars. Legends like the 787B, and Rothman’s Porsche. Since we got a ton of photos of the cars at the show why not do a post about it?

Silk-Jaguar

Fans of the 24 hours of Daytona may remember the Jaguar XJR-12. It’s 7 liter V12 was an absolute monster. It pumped out 730hp and 539lb-ft of torque topping out at 219mph. Beast.

Vintage Gassers on the the strip

Gassers are a very unique breed of drag racer. It is always a nice treat to see one at a show, but it’s even cooler to see them run at the strip. Well I was tooling around the internet when I stumbled across this really cool video of some vintage gassers running at the strip.

Henry-J-Gasser
The video is actually a 9 minute long promo for a film shot way back when by Jim Amos. The great thing about this vintage footage is it has sound too and it’s quite good. Hit the jump and enjoy.

Like a Rock: ZR1 Blue Devil can not be killed by a sinkhole

Cue the Bob Seger music because you can’t keep a good Chevy down. Like a Rock the ZR1 Blue Devil was pulled from that sink hole in the Corvette museum today and after a quick charge of the battery she started right up and drove off. Ok, there was more oil under the car then in some Saudi oil fields but still it’s a victory of Corvette vs nature.

corvette vs sinkhole

We’ve got video of the moments occasion just after the jump.

“OHHH LIKE A ROCK!”
