The Retro Porsche 924

I thought I’d post up a second bit of film for Film Friday today to kind of make up for not getting to post anything while we are down. Now to the faithful reader don’t be alarmed we haven’t gone all European on you and we’ll have plenty of V8 American muscle powered radness soon. However I think this is one sweet looking Porsche 924 and thought it would be cool to post up a quick video of it I stumbled on.

This video is kind of short and sweet. We get a little bit of sound at the beginning but then the music kicks in and it’s just just visually stimulated cruising scenes. That’s all right by me since the weather is terrible out side and I can only dream of cruising tonight.

A year in the life of a Porsche 924S

The Porsche 924S probably isn’t the first model you think of when you hear the name Porsche, but maybe you should start thinking about it. The 924 had been around since the late 70s but in 1984 the VW engine that was being used to power the 924 went out of production. This put Porsche in a bit of a bind. So they detuned the 2.5L engine in the 944 to 163bhp and stuck it in the 924 thus creating the 924S. As I said you probably don’t think of the 924S very often but they can be had for a very reasonable price and they have the Porsche pedigree so you could probably find you a nice little driver in one.

Being Film Friday we of course have some video to show you. This one is called “A Year with a Porsche 924S.” The owner Matt Biggs chronicled a year in his life with the 924S doing some racing, snow driving, and all the other things you do when you have a sweet vintage Porsche. So hit the jump for a short video with some cool driving footage.

Cadillac ELR starts showing up at dealer lots

We aren’t particularly keen on electric vehicles here and despite their growing popularity I don’t think they are our future, but more of a temporary stop gap measure to what’s next. Let’s not kid ourselves, our country gets a lot of it’s electricity from coal and the coal industry and lie all it wants but “clean coal” is still coal and coal is terrible for the environment. Not to mention putting more stress on our already outdated electrical grid is probably a bad idea.

With all that said, I think the Cadillac ELR is pretty cool. It looks great and with basically the under pinnings of the Chevy Volt we know it’s going to be great on the pocket book with amazing fuel economy and ride. So Cadillac has put together a bit of a press release as these are finally leaving the assembly plant and header for dealers.

We are back! What the hell happened here?

Well it’s been a good week and a half or more since we went down but we are back. Part of our problem is we are small, like two guys small, and we have a small budget, like your lunch cost more then our monthly budget. So until we can really expand and become world famous (ha) we may have a hiccup now and then. So we crashed a server. Not like a fender bender, but a full on 200 mph into the wall over the arm-co, and into the harbor at Monaco crash. So everything had to be rebuilt and that took a long time because as it turns out our server people know less about servers then we do. vintage Bugatti crashing

I’m sure as we all explore the site we are going to find some things still broken so if you do shoot us an email and let us know. In the mean time our winter update is probably delayed a bit. We were hoping to have a nice shiny, simple, and new look to the site by Christmas but as it turns out we had bigger problems. We’ll get around to that soon.

In other news we missed some news from the car world and I’ll work on a nice catch up post a bit later in the weekend. Glad to be back up and running and tell all your friends. WE ARE BACK!

In the meantime.
