The Audi A3 e-tron
Audi is well known for luxury, technology, and quality. Now they announce that they have incorporated all of that into the new Audi A3 e-tron. The regular Audi A3 sportback is quit the car, fun to drive, roomy, and very practical, so now by added a bit of technology they have only improved on a good thing.
So the A3 e-tron gets a heaping helping of hybrid technology. It’s 1.4L TFSI engine gets reworked heavily so that it will work in conjunction with a 75 KW electric motor. The result of all of this is a 204hp and 257lb-ft of torque channeled through a six speed e-Stronic gear box.
There is some serous trickery going on under the hood as the driver can select which engine powers the car, or a mix of both. In the mixed setting the car will get an amazing 156mpg. Let me repeat that, the Audi A3 e-tron gets 156 mpg. On the electric motor alone the car can run for 31 minutes and go 80mph. When performance is needed the car can go 0-60 in 7.6 seconds, which isn’t impressive by any count but isn’t too bad for a heavy hybrid.
Here’s the bummer. The car is not for sale. Audi says this is just a test bed for the technology and it will be some time before this makes it to production. Either way, it’s much more exciting then a Prius and I hope we do see this technology soon.

1967 Dodge Polara, a life long love affair
Every one remembers their first car, your ticket to freedom. Like most of us Tom Ford remembers his first car a 1967 Dodge Polara. When you think classic car the Polara is not probably the first car you think of, but after reading Tom’s story and seeing the pictures of his beautiful Dodge Polara you might just change your mind.
Tom’s story begins like most of ours. When he was about to get his drivers license he had saved up a little money and was hunting for used cars. The year was 1971 so you are probably thinking Tom was hunting for some muscle, but not so fast. Tom explains “I was looking for something my father would drive.” We’ve all been there certainly, trying to be like our Father, trying to get his approval. Now you can start to see where the Polara comes in.

Mercedes E-class V8 Super Car and winter testing video
With race season heating up all over the planet this time of year it’s no wonder our coverage of such events increases dramatically. Today’s topic the Erebus Motorsport Mercedes E-class V8 Super Car. V8 Super Cars are a special kind of awesome. Big heavy RWD, V8 powered monsters that go around road course with ease, well sometimes. We love them here at IG. The Erebus Motorsport E class isn’t anything terribly exciting on it’s own. Oh sure it’s pretty, just check out the pick below, but on the surface it’s like the other V8 Super Cars. Tube frame chassis, with a 5.0L V8 pumping out 650 raging horsepower at 7,500 rpm. You might that that sounds pretty good, you’d be right and we have video of it. So hit the jump and enjoy.

Sunday Commentary: Daytona 500, week in review, and looking forward

Well the second great weekend of the race season is here. The Daytona 500 is quite a spectacle even if you are not a big race fan. In fact I’m not the biggest of NASCAR fans but I got together with some people to see what it’s all about and I have to say I enjoyed the race despite a boring start.

Of course for me the big deal with today’s race was the return of cars that atleast resemble their show room counter parts. Now this certainly isn’t the win on Sunday sell on Monday cars of the 60s and 70s, but it is very nice to see something that looks like a car I could actually own, even if underneath they are pure race car. It’s a step in the right direction.
