John Findra’s amazing model cars

One of the biggest trends going are rat rods. Whether you love them or hate them people now are purposely creating rat rods with paint on patina and rust and that trend is only going to grow. The rat rod trend has quickly taken hold of the model car world as well. John Findra has created a whole business out of beating up model cars and the results are amazing. Etsy TV has done a video on his creations and I think you will quite enjoy it.

1950 Ford Custom from the Got Faith car show

Ford has used the term Custom on it’s cars since the 1930s but in 1950 if your Ford had Custom on the side trim work it meant you had the top of the line model. While 1950 Fords are far from rare even today, it’s rare to come across such an awesome example. Buddy Green has done an excellent job of restoring his Custom to tip top shape with a few modifications to make it just the way he and his wife like it. The end result I think you will see is pretty impressive.

Grid 2 announced by Codemasters

Codemasters is well known for the Dirt, Grid, and F1 games and now finally after four years we see the sequel of Grid in Grid 2. Codemasters has put a video up on youtube to showcase the new game. They say the game will feature cars from four decades and three continents as well as city tracks, licensed circuits, and mountain tracks. There is no hard release date yet but Codemasters says the summer of 2013.

High Desert Racing Association Fireworks 500

InfiniteGarage.coms Photography expert Renowrench recently spent some time out in the desert watching the HDRA Fireworks 500. For those of you that don’t know about the HDRA they were a pretty big time series in the 80s but after the passing of their founder they floundered a bit. However they started back up in 2011 and have no intentions of fading away again. Sadly the HDRA folks didn’t return our request for an interview and a chance to promote their series but non the less we have some pretty sweet pics for you off road fans.

Dodge is pulling out of Nascar after this season

We don’t cover much Nascar here because honestly it’s boring. The cars are boring, the tracks are boring, and it’s not feasible for us to travel that much. While I’m on my high horse what we’d like to see in Nascar is a return to the 1960s and 1970s style cars where you actually have cars you could go watch race on Sunday and buy on Monday. Maybe as attendance continues to fall in Nascar they will make a change to a more interesting car formula. It’s not that Nascar doesn’t have potential, it certainly does, it just seems wasted.

Before I get too far off topic news comes today that the rumor Dodge is pulling out after this season is completely true. There is only one team running a Dodge anyway and they are switching to Ford’s. Long gone are the days of Superbirds and Chargers Daytonas flying around the ovals of Daytona.
