Infineon Raceway now Sonoma raceway but will soon be something else.

In the world where everything is for sale and integrity means nothing it’s a guarantee that your favorite sporting venue will likely go through a number of name changes before inevitably it’s tore down and remodeled using your tax dollars so a huge and wealthy company can profit off you buying tickets to their events at the stadium you paid for. Hey that’s America though, capitalism and all. Right?

Slightly political rant aside it looks like Infineon has chosen not to renew the naming rights to the race track that formerly had their name on it. I can’t imagine why I mean I’m sure their, wait what did they do again? business got all kinds of customers from it. Seriously what does Infineon do? I can’t be bothered to look it up since they will no longer be a part of my life now since they don’t have their name on a race track. So for now that track will be called Sonoma raceway. again. That is of course until some other giant company buys the naming rights to the track again. You know most people I know still call it Sears Point. Maybe they should just approach Sears?

Whatever they do we’ll let you know when it happens.

Driven: Mercedes Benz E63 AMG

For 2012 Mercedes updates the E63 AMG with some new styling cues, a new engine, and that same old AMG awesomeness that makes us love these cars. Gone is the old 6.3L engine (actually a 6.2) and in is a 5.5L bi turbo torque monster. The new engine featuring direct injection makes 518hp in standard form but with the optional sport package you’ll get 550hp thanks to a bump in boost from 14.8 to 18.9 psi. You’ll also get a big kick in the pants in the torque curve bringing it up to 590lb-ft that comes in right at 2000 RPMs. The E63 comes equip with AMGs 7 speed automatic transmission featuring a wet clutch as opposed to a torque converter. You can shift with paddles behind the steering wheel or let the car do it for you.
