The Mercedes-Bens S63 AMG Coupe

We will never own an S63 AMG. I know that and it’s ok. I’m just happy knowing somewhere out there is a full sized sedan that is full on straight jacket and padded walls crazy. Using AMGs 5.5L twin turbo V8 pumping out 577hp and 664lb-ft of torque the S63 is something special. I’ve always been a big fan of the big AMG cars. Plenty of room, comfort, luxury, and lunacy. All in one package. No one does big luxury and big horsepower in one car like Mercedes.

Ok, so we are actually talking about the S 63 AMG coupe here. I for the life of me can’t figure out why anyone needs an S class coupe, but I still think it’s cool. Tons of info and pics after the jump.

Nascar Sprint Cup Series Food City 500 recap

Rain rain and more rain is the story of the day at Bristol for the Food City 500. Short track racing is as exciting as it gets and forunately the action was not hampered by the multiple rain delays. While the race coverage on TV was dreadful at times the action on the track was pretty good. I can’t be too harsh on the TV guys, they had a lot of time to fill. Although the whole toilet paper thing just got weird after a while.

It seemed at times the cars spent more time under the covers then they did out on the track, but in the end it was Karl Edwards cruising to a win. We have a full race recap, tons of pics and the standing so far after the jump.

Test Driving a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner

The fellas at Ramblin Round have a cool youtube channel and I happened to notice they have a great video of a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner. This one has a 383 with a 4 barrel. It looks like they hooked up with Fast Lane Motors which is near St. Louis, Missouri for the test drive. If you haven’t been to Fast Lane you should check it out the next time you are in the St. Louis area. They do sales, but you can just walk through their show room and check out all the cool cars. They specialize in American Muscle so there is something you are sure to like.

The video is after the jump. The sound of the it is amazing. The 383 really does make a great noise.

Sunday Commentary: Phil Collins can shut up anytime now

There is a an old Phil Collins song where the lyrics say “I wish it would rain down.” Well he got his wish here on an later winters weekend where it seems every place a major automotive race is occurring it is also raining. Why does Phil Collins hate racing? I suppose the rain delay at Bristol is a good thing. If the race were on I certainly would not be getting any work done. However the rain continues to fall so here I am cranking out the Sunday Commentary. The F1 GP of Australia also saw rain this weekend. While the GP only got some sprinkles, downpours made qualifying rather interesting. I hear Reno will have a full recap of Australia later this week. While I’ve got Nascar duty. They will get the race in soon so never fear.

Impala-SS

We had another short week this week. I’ve resigned myself to the fact that it’s going to be this way until car show season heats up. I’ve heard from several of you asking what the deal is with the short weeks here at IG and quite frankly my plate is over flowing. Without getting into details my day job is taking up a lot of time, a side business of mine is taking off, and winter is keeping any car fun at a minimum. Soon though we will return to glory with full weeks of awesome cars. I only sleep a few hours a night any way so I’ll fit it all in somewhere. In the mean time lets do the week in review and look forward to the coming week where we will have a lot of race coverage, some cool cars, and maybe even some new car news.
