Film Friday: Superbikes at Cadwell Park

BSB at Cadwell Park

There are a lot of “extreme” motorsports. While they are exciting to watch, they look a bit contrived in comparison to many of the more traditional motorsports. We showed you a legitimately extreme sport with our Film Friday: Isle of Man Edition and now the motorcycles are back, cementing their reign as the kings of extreme. Hit the jump for some Superbikes jumping.

No manual transmission for the next 911 Turbo

The Porsche 911 Turbo is one of the all time greats. It is synonymous with performance, heritage, and style. Oh sure it has it’s critics and the style hasn’t change a whole lot in it’s entire history but it’s certainly evolved. Well it is evolving one more step it appears and that is the loss of the manual transmission.
911
I’m not one of those manual or no transmission guys, but that is probably the drag racer in me. I get wanting a manual and the IG company car has a manual transmission. It is fun to drive and allows for control of the car in more ways then an automatic. However, Porsche is not replacing the manual with an automatic, it’s a PDK transmission. This just makes sense. First dropping the manual from the turbo (also the GT3) means less RnD dollars spent on developing a transmission not very many people want. The fact is most of the American population has never even driven a manual transmission, let alone wants one. However the PDK transmission gives them the chance to row through the gears and still have the ease of use of an automatic. Not to mention the PDK transmission shifts faster and out performs a manual 100% of the time.

2014 Nismo 370Z

The 2014 Nismo 370Z offers up race inspired looks in a straight from the dealer car. The Nissan Z line of cars have always inspired passion and offered performance driving to a wide audience. The new Nissan 370Z has continued that tradition even if it may be a tad heavy and a little on the meh side of driving. That’s right I just used meh to describe a driving style. The problem with the Z is while it looks the part, sounds the part, and even has the power for the par the car has just always failed to live up to all that. Know I know the 350/370Z owners of the world are plotting my assassination right now but go drive an old 240z and tell me they come any where near the fun to drive level. Ok before I dig myself too deep let’s talk about the Nismo 370z. Sexy little thing isn’t it?
Nissan nismo 370z
More the ever the Z looks like a super car thanks to all the Nismo enhancements. Nissan tried to make clear the bloodline between the GTR and Z when the 370 launched and now with the Nismo treatment dare I say the 370z has surpassed the GTR in looks. I know I know more Nissan blasphemy. Surely the import God’s will smite me.

So what you get with this new Nismo is a lot of cosmetics like Rays Wheels, some gray treatment around the edges, a six inch longer body thanks to some aero bits, and a 3.7L 350hp screamer of an engine. The suspension has been tuned for better handling so if you run into one of these at the track don’t be surprised if it catches your old Z in the corners.

Tons more pics after the jump, including some interior shots.
