The X-raid MINI team continues to dominate the 2014 Dakar Rally and a lone HRC rider fends off the attacks of rally favorites Despres and Coma. Hit the jump for our brief recap of the day’s stage.
Tricky navigation and bad luck punctuated Stage 3 of the 2014 Dakar Rally.
Honda’s Barreda Bort continues an impressive charge finishing ahead of rally favorites Despres (Yamaha) and Coma (KTM) and retaining the overall lead in the 2014 Dakar Rally.
In the cars Peterhansel suffered from massive bad luck with three simultaneous flat tires, losing a half hour. Fortunately for MINI his teammate Nani Roma was able to come home first on the stage and the Spaniard now lies in first overall, nine minutes ahead of fellow MINI teammate Terranova.
Robbie Gordon did well to finish the stage in sixth and I suspect his pace will improve over the course of the rally. Speaking of Robbie there is some pretty funny smack talk going on between Robbie and fellow American BJ Baldwin in the stage highlight video below.
