Looking for something to do this weekend? Check out the Auto Show and Fly in at the St. Louis Regional Airport this weekend in Bathalto, Illinois. You can expect a little bit of everything from world class hot rods to all kinds of muscle and classics. There will also be a swap meet so if you are looking for that rare piece of trim or maybe need some sweet “new” wheels for your car you never know they might just be there waiting for you. The festivities start at 9am Saturday the 28th and go until 3pm.
The fine folks in charge of the show asked me to give them a little plug this week so I thought in lieu of just doing a quick little post I might take the time to post some of my favorites cars of the summer. So hit the jump for a mixed bag of classic cool.
This Riviera was one of my favorite cars I’ve ever seen, much less photograph. Such a cool looking luxury ride. You can see more here in my post Buick Riviera your personal luxury car.
Everyone should know by now I love Mopars. The 1968 Charger with it’s round tail lights is as cool as it gets.
I caught this one in Mark Twain’s home town early this summer. 1968 Dodge Charger RT
I always thought the Ford Falcon was a bit under rated. Ok this one isn’t exactly an award winner but it would make a great driver for someone.
Hot rods of course are where it all began. Whether you like hi boys, low boys, full fender, or no fenders they are the coolest cars in the car world. This one belongs in a ZZ Top video.
Not all hot rods are shiny, but that doesn’t make them any less awesome.
Wheels can make or break a build.
There are about as many engine configurations as there are hot rods. Like this Plymouth, a rare choice for a hot rod.
Those are just a few of the sweet rides we have covered this summer. Now that fall is here our photo library will grow exponentially as fall is really the meat of car show season here.
