It’s a little hard to believe that today is our second anniversary of Infinite Garage. One of the biggest questions I get is how did this all come about? Well that’s a great question and I’m not sure where it really all began but I can kind of tell you how it happened. I’ve loved cars forever. I can pin point one specific point in time when it all clicked for me. It was a Sunday afternoon and my family was out for a drive. This is something we did regularly and for whatever reason this time we were exploring the northern portions of the county we live in. I was probably 10 or 11 years old and doing my usual looking out the window there was the rear and wing of a Petty Blue Road Runner Superbird sticking out of a dilapidated shed. It was so cool, so different than anything I’d seen before it sparked something in me.
I also spent my childhood hearing the stories of my Dad and Uncles about their old muscle cars. Cudas, Roadrunners, Camaros, 442s, they had the lot of them and I guess those things became legends to me. If we flash forward to three years ago I would spend my Wednesday nights hanging out with my friends of Exodus Racing. By this time my friends were scattered across the country, or the world even and we found a great way to connect and stay in touch was a game called Forza Motorsports. We spent a lot of time racing online and of course those times between races or between qualify and a race turned into big BS sessions. Often times the focus of those sessions where cars. It only makes sense that a bunch of guy who enjoyed racing simulators also enjoyed cars.
Then there was Infinite Garage.

One night I couldn’t tell you specifically which one I was a bit down on my current job situation and I was chatting with a buddy whom we called Pistol Pig, whose real name is Michael Adams. Pistol had actual automotive journalism experience and I think I jokingly said “how come my guidance counselor never told me about the job of driving and photographing awesome cars?” Some jokes ensued and we kind of dropped it.

The picture above was one of the first banners of IG.
Finally one night when talking with Pistol I decided I was going to start a website about cars. I had high hopes and big dreams as I always do and quite frankly I didn’t have a clue what I was doing. So I began researching and I asked my good buddy Jeremy for tips on setting it up. He said I’ll do you one better and I’ll host it. So in a few days time I went from a guy who knew nothing about a website to a guy who knew nothing about a website but had one. It was all very exciting but I was learning on the fly, as you can tell from those first few months of IG. It was pretty shaky.

Several times it looked like the wheels would come off the thing but I kept at it. Soon Pistol started doing some writing, and Reno jumped in a bit later. We were off and rolling. Quickly our mission changed though. At first I wanted to do a new car news, test drive, and info based website but I was out at a White Hall Drag O Way get together and it hit me that I didn’t want to showcase new cars, I wanted to showcase old cars.

I realized that maybe I could take the car shows I’d go to and put them in internet form for those who can’t get out to the shows. That has been the heart of Infinite Garage ever since. Between the whole lot of us here we hit a few dozen shows and events a year to bring you everything we can.
That gets us to today. With Reno and I still controlling the reins, working through some growing pains, and dealing with a shoe string budget we manage to keep doing what we are doing. I assume you guys like it since our numbers keep growing with over 200,000 visitors to our site in just two years, nearly 20,000 likes on Facebook, and our other social media presence. We’d love to get you guys posting here on the site more and get your thoughts on what you want to see.

In the mean time we are going to keep doing what we do, hopefully ad more video going forward and we are looking into maybe doing some shirts and a decals. More on those at a later date.
I’d like to take a quick second to thank Reno, Pistol, Lord Funkatron, Jeremy, and Chris for all there contributions to IG. I’d also like to thank the guys at the White Hall Drag O Way who continue to let an annoying guy with a Chevy Cobalt come and take photos of their cars often, as well as the dozens of other shows and clubs who seem to not mind us hanging out. Most importantly I’d like to thank all of you faithful readers. I know some of you have been with us the whole time and I’m so grateful for that. Here’s to many more years of Infinite Garage!
