Nissan Nismo Freeflow IDX

The Nissan Nismo Freeflow IDX concepts are more of a design exercise then anything. Nissan says the way people buy cars is changing and become more personal. They say buyers want a car the reflects themselves. While I completely agree I don’t think that is anything new. The Freeflow is aimed directly at at younger people. More specifically people born after 1990. Young people looking for a small eco friendly mode of transportation that fits their personal style.

Small is certainly the word here. These cars are tiny being only a shade of 13 feet long and 5.9 wide. Powering them will be a host of engines ranging from 1.2L to a 1.6L direct injection turbo motor. Mated to a CVT transmission they are almost guaranteed to not be any fun to drive. However being small and light maybe the driving characteristics can make up for it all.

No word if these two cars will actually ever see production. I have my doubts but one thing it does tell us is that light and small is coming back. That trend has been underway for a good while now and shows no sign of stopping. Nissan says these concepts represent a new way that they will approach the design of cars. Sounds good to us. While the Freeflow and IDX may be a bit quirky there is something a bit cool about them as well.
