50 years of the legendary Gen II 426 Hemi

Bruce Springsteen once wrote the lyric “Hemi powered drones scream down the boulavard” in his 1975 hit “Born to Run.” With the muscle car era over and long before collector cars existed the Hemi was a legend. They don’t right songs about Wankles. Now 50 years after the second generation Hemi which includes the legendary 426 was born Hemis are a hot ticket. Mopar knows this and plans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Hemi with a bang. Not only will the Hemi Challenge return for this year but a whole host of memorabilia, apparel, accessories, and everything else will be available to Hemifiy your life.

Sunday Commentary: NAIAS recap, Dakar, and some musings

Hopefully this edition of the Sunday Commentary finds you all well and having a nice relaxing Sunday. Maybe you are watching some football, or some Barrett-Jackson coverage and decided to take a small break to step into our world of Infinite Garage. To be honest I do not particularly like doing autoshow coverage because new cars aren’t my thing. Oh sure some new cars like that new Z06 shown above or maybe a Challenger, Camaro, or Mustang are cool. Yeah, I’d gladly have one in my garage but I’ve always felt the heart of Infinite Garage are car shows. That way we are out talking with our faithful readers, see what you are working on, and chatting with real enthusiasts.

Nissan Nismo Freeflow IDX

The Nissan Nismo Freeflow IDX concepts are more of a design exercise then anything. Nissan says the way people buy cars is changing and become more personal. They say buyers want a car the reflects themselves. While I completely agree I don’t think that is anything new. The Freeflow is aimed directly at at younger people. More specifically people born after 1990. Young people looking for a small eco friendly mode of transportation that fits their personal style.

Small is certainly the word here. These cars are tiny being only a shade of 13 feet long and 5.9 wide. Powering them will be a host of engines ranging from 1.2L to a 1.6L direct injection turbo motor. Mated to a CVT transmission they are almost guaranteed to not be any fun to drive. However being small and light maybe the driving characteristics can make up for it all.
