Calloway knows how to make cars go fast and they’ve been tuning Chevys for a long time now. I’m sure most of you are familiar with the Calloway Corvette. Now the gang over at Calloway has decided to try their hands at the all new Chevy SS. In case you aren’t familiar with the SS it is a Holden imported form down under and rebadged a Chevy. Chevy calls it a four door Corvette and with the 6.2L LS3 under the hood and suspension to match whose arguing?

So what do you get with the Calloway SS? Well a full can of whoop ass. 570hp supercharged 6.2L V8 and a Zero to 60 in 4.5 seconds. That’s one hot family sedan. The basic package will cost you a little more than 18,000 dollars, that is of course on top of the $42,000 Chevy SS. More info on just what you get for your money after the jump.

Mercedes SLS Final Edition, Mercedes S65 Final Edition
AMG Mercedes are like muscle cars with luxury. If you ever get a chance to drive one you should, you will not be disappointed. Gobs of torque and horsepower coupled with a sound track as good as any on the road mean they are a blast to drive. With the SLS AMG on it’s way out and the S65 to be replaced soon Mercedes has decided it is time to pay tribute to the duo with one last special edition.
So just ahead of their launch at the LA Autoshow which is at the end of the month we get a bit of a preview of the two cars. Full stats and info after the jump as well as some more photos.

Film Friday: Four Thousand Miles of Rust, 2012 Rat Rod Tour
Here at IG we are firm believers in getting your car out and going for a cruise. Too many times in our travels we see cars that rarely if ever get driven. Sure show cars are nice, but cars are made to be driven. That’s why we particularly love events like the Fall Fun Run or the Hot Rod Power Tour which take these rolling master pieces and put them in motion for the whole world to see. Now a new tour is on our radar in the 2012 Rat Rod Tour. The guys over at Rat Rod Magazine put together a great video called Four Thousand Miles of Rust which documents their journey. You just have to check it out.

Be warned the film runs over 40 minutes, but it’s 40 minutes of rust filled kick ass that will make for great viewing on a mid falls evening.

Popular Mechanics names the Mazda 6 Car of the Year. It’s just not
I know car of the year is typically some affordable family car that’s boring as hell and people only drive because they have to. It’s why we don’t take Car of the Year very seriously here. Well at least not in the same way Popular Driver or Car, track, and mechanics does. So today I got news from Mazda that Popular Mechanics named the Mazda 6 their car of the year. While we won’t name our awards for the year until after Christmas I’m pretty sure the Mazda 6 is not it.
It’s not that the Mazda 6 is a bad car. It isn’t. In fact it’s fine in a I got married had kids and decided to give up on life sort of way, but when you think about every new car that came out this year is the Mazda 6 really the best? Of course not. So below are some cars that are most certainly better than the six.

Sunday Commentary:
Sunday Commentary week in review
by Jason
Sunday is here, well it’s almost over actually. A busy schedule for me this weekend and some server issues mean things are running late here at IG. It looks like our server is all fixed again so it’s time to get back to normal. Whatever normal is for us. So almost every Sunday for a good while now I’ve been doing this week in review thing and it’s hugely popular with you our loyal fans. So I don’t want to change too much this week but I fear this week may be a bit short as my eyes get heavy after what has been a very long few months. I’m know many of you know this but some don’t and I often get asked if IG is all I do or if I have another job. I indeed have another job, a few actually, but most notably this time of year I help out on my family’s farm. It’s long hours but it’s generally rewarding. Not to mention I get to drive all kinds of horsepower all day long which is quite fun. So if you’ve been wondering why I haven’t posted as consistently as I do through the summer and winter months that explains it.
That is probably way more than you want to know about me so let’s get back to what we do best which is bombard you with muscle cars, hot rods, and other assorted items of cool. We have a week in review to do so continue reading and see what you missed!
