Fords, not Mustangs

It is very easy to get wrapped up in Mustang’s when we talk about Ford’s, but there are so many great other Ford’s that I thought I’d take the time to highlight a few of them tonight. Out and about at the shows I easily see Mustang’s more then any other car and after a while I get a bit numb to them all. It’s not that I don’t like Mustang’s, quite the opposite actually, it’s just occasionally a sweet Galaxy, Thunderbird, or Torino.

Ford Coupe

Of course there are always classic Ford hot rods. Thank Henry Ford for making millions of them which has given hot rod fans decades worth of blank canvases to practice their craft. So hit the jump for the other Ford’s.

Deuce and a Half Road Test

Why not road test a Deuce and a Half army truck? That was my thinking as I hauled sand to fight the flood of 2013. The day was long, hot, loud, and dirty so to pass the time I thought what the heck. this will be a great road test and hopefully a laugh for everyone.

The Deuce and a Half is called a Deuce and Half because of it’s weight. It’s technically a medium duty truck but I assure you it is a work horse. It’s six wheel drive configuration will go any where and our tester equipped with the Cat 3116 diesel has more lugging power then two teams of oxen. Our deuce came in convertible form but for the life of me I can not figure out why. So for the fourth of July as a celebration of the birth of this great nation I thought just for fun maybe I’d review something different. Read the rest of this entry »

Save The Ring!

The Nurburgring, possibly the most famous track in the entire world is in trouble. Time after time report after report the news has come out that the Ring is for sale, the Ring will be closed, and a piece of automotive history, and a true legend in the world of motorsports will be lost forever. That is where Save the Ring comes in.

save the ring

Save the Ring is a non profit organization aimed raising awareness about the dealings going on around the Ring and ultimately keeping the Ring in the right hands. Like so many things it all goes down hill when the private sector gets involved. You see in the 1920s the Ring was built by the government as a place to safely (I use that term loosely) race in the Eifel Mountains. It would also serve as a place for automakers to showcase their latest and greatest cars and for eighty plus years it did that.

Buick powered hot rod

Hot Rods and Muscle cars are basically what we are all about here on Infinite Garage. Sure we enjoy racing, motorcycles, classics, and the occasional import, but our roots lie in big V8s, custom touches, going fast, and looking good. If I’ve seen one hot rod I’ve seen a thousand and I enjoy seeing them all. To the untrained eye or the non car guy they probably all look the same, but to you the faithful reader and to the staff here at IG the devil is always in the details and I always enjoy looking over a rod to see what sets it apart from the one sitting right next to it. So today we take a look at another fine example, with a bit of a surprise in the engine compartment.

As you can see from the front it looks like a fairly typical hot rod. Chopped, channeled, sweet paint, and lots of shiny bits. Anyone would be proud to call it their own, but let’s dive a little deeper. Read the rest of this entry »
